Description The research investigates techniques and solutions to make data centers and the cloud infrastructure more energy efficient. Both the case of strategies inside a data center or for the case in which a data center is actually composed of a federations of centers located in different areas can be considered.
A number of different thesis topics can be proposed in this field:
- Algorithms for properly allocating load to servers so as to put to sleep modes idle servers
- Algorithms to decide load re-allocation based on changed conditions
- Solutions to optimize the strategies based on energy cost variations
- Algorithms to take into account the kind of energy (from renewable or from fossil fuels) that is used
Thesis either based on simulation and/or analytical modeling are available.
