Description In the context of Smart Grid, the proposed thesis aims to develop an agent based simulator to analyze different solicitation methods of collective behavior for electricity consumption control in Energy District. As first objective, the candidate will become familiar with AnyLogic, a software development platform for agent based simulation, modeling the household behavior in using the most widespread appliances.
Subsequently, the candidate will model the collective behavior in an Energy District exposed to automated electricity consumption control algorithm. During this step, different academic topic will be examined in depth, like Game Theory to model the agent decision stage to the solicitation of the control algorithm, considering the collective influences on singular ones.
Finally, the simulator will integrate a communication system that will admit result communication with a complex electric grid simulation framework to visualize the result of the applied energy consumption control algorithm.
The thesis is part of the FLEXMETER European project (http://flexmeter.polito.it/).
Thesis to be carried out in collaboration with the company Telecom Italia at SWARM Joint Open Lab.

Required skills • Good programming skill [Java, JavaScript, Node.JS]
• Basic knowledge on probability and statistics [Game Theory]
• Experience with agent based simulation [AnyLogic]
• Flexibility and proactivity in approaching research challenges
