Description Current emerging internet applications and cloud-based services keep
increasing data traffic and demanding high end-to-end capacity
worldwide. Elastic optical networking (EON) is a viable solution to
support these capacity requirements using the optical spectrum in a
flexible manner through the network. This creates many challenges where
complex Routing and Spectrum Assignment (RSA) and defragmentation are
required.
This thesis will create a simulation framework to evaluate recent proposals in the literature for RSA and defragmentation. Then, the thesis will analyze different trade-offs considering enabling technologies practical aspects.
Required skills C or C++ programming. Network simulation.
