Description Fog computing is a novel networking approach, which extends the cloud computing paradigm to the "neighborhood" of a network user. Indeed, a mobile user equipped with a terminal device (e.g. a smartphone) can exploit the cooperation of the neighboring devices to delegate some local computation tasks, or the access to some external data. This offloading technique exploits D2D (device-to-device) wireless communications, which will be crucial in future 5G networks.
The aim of the thesis is to investigate and experiment some practical offloading schemes to allow the cooperation between Android terminals.
Required skills Android OS, Java, background on network protocols.
