Description Inteconnections are widely recognized as playing a central role in economics, in particular in the study of production networks and financial networks. In this context, network centrality measures such as eigenvector, Katz, Bonacich, and Pagerank can be interpreted in terms of relevant economic quantities and allow for the study of efficiency and resilience of production and financial networks. In this thesis, some classical and more modern economic models of production and financial networks will be reviewed and presented in a unified framework. The role of different network centrality measures in determining efficiency and resilience of such networks will be critically analyzed and tested on different network topologies and problems of optimization and robustness of the network topology will be studied.
