Description In the context of the research activities of the Internet Media Group, we are looking for a master thesis student with strong interests in developing tools to handle a large amount of data (mainly video sequences and quality metrics) in the context of the high performance computing (HPC) environment available at the Politecnico (hpc.polito.it). An account on the HPC system will we be made available for experimentation purposes. The activity can be carried out without being physically present on a day-to-day basis at the Politecnico.
Required skills Reasonable knowledge of Unix/Linux (scripts to handle simulations on HPC)
Reasonable knowledge of digital multimedia signal coding tools, i.e., video encoder/decoder (a reasonably good mark in the “Elaborazione e trasmissione di informazioni multimediali” (ETIM, Processing and Transmission of Multimedia Signals) course is appreciated).
