Description Manufacturing processes which are covered in the study are: deep drawing and a novel solid state welding process named capacitor discharge welding, suitable to weld dissimilar alloys and usually non-weldable material using conventional methods; for mechanical characterization the novel macroinstrumented indentation technique is proposed; smart systems under investigation are of magnetostrictive and eddy current types.
