Thesis type MASTER THESIS
Description Natural mistuning is the result of the turbine blades manufacturing. It is an issue that the designer must know and manage during the design phase of a component. The candidate shall analyze the natural mistuning effects by means of in-house tools and commercial ones (ANSYS). Particular focus shall be given to the mode localization issue that could be arise as consequence of the natural or intentional mistuning of the turbine bladed discs. The comparison between numerical and experimental results could be required.
Objective of the thesis is to analyze the natural mistuning of bladed discs of gas turbine by in-house tools and to compare simulations with experimental data and focusing on mode localization issues.
Required skills MS engineering students (energy, aerospace, mechanical or equivalent).
Knowledge in mechanical integrity issues.
Bonus: Finite Element Analysis and vibration mechanics.
Notes Duration: 8 months
Location of the internship: Ansaldo Energia, via N. Lorenzi 8, Genova, Italy.
