Description Over the past years, voice services have been evolved to Voice over IP provided using LTE radio access (VoLTE) controlled by IP Multimedia Subsystem. This brand new technology open up the path to personal communication with multi-device and multi-line propositions. On the other side, 5G is changing the perspecitve of data services, moving toward pervasive Internet of Things and Next Generation Networks – ultrafast, low latency, high capacity. Even thought 5G is not on voice network, the scope of the work is to investigate and make clear the impacts on VoLTE from 5G massive deployments, highlighting any changes needed to make a unique network. Main investigation areas should be on architecture, performance and user experience. Outcome of the work should include a clear evolution path toward a new converged network for voice and data.
Required skills The student should have very good programming skills and basic knowledge of LTE; also the student should be able to work in an autonomous and responsible manner.
