Thesis type NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL
Description This thesis proposal combines experimental activity and numerical modeling and simulation. Students will be developing parametric models of damaged composite structures and conduct experimental tests on carbon-fiber panels. Particular attention will be dedicated to the study and development of advanced methods to model different types of damages affecting wing structures. The experimental campaign will be conducted on composite panels presenting damages associated with fiber-cut, delamination and impact. The research activities can be tailored on student’s interests upon discussion with the supervisors/PIs.
Required skills Passion, curiosity, responsibility and proactivity are key assets. Familiarity with numerical methods, finite element method, structural analysis is welcome.
