Description Manufacturing processes which are covered in the study are: solid state welding by capacitor discharge or electromagnetic induction; the aim is to weld dissimilar difficult-to-weld alloys; mechanical characterization is performed by a new technique named macroinstrumented indentation tesat; alternatively smart system design is a supplemented study focusing on magnetostrictive materials or eddy current or electromagnetic fundamentals.
