Description The Protein Data Bank (PDB) is the key resource in the so-called structure-based drug design, which is a computational methodology for finding candidate chemical compounds as potential inhibitors of molecular targets in specific diseases including various types of cancer. Currently, about 1500 proteins have been identified as molecular targets for many diseases but only a fraction of these proteins have known inhibitors, which could become medicinal drugs. This thesis will deal with developing a methodology for treating these PDB datasets of protein structures in a manner similar to the image analysis of human faces. 3D Face Analysis methodologies will be used in this project to identify each protein in a unique way. The objective is to translate biometric face recognition algorithms into the field of protein biophysics with the aim of precise and fast classification of morphological features of proteins.
