Description Planned maintenance refers to maintenance activites that are scheduled in advance, in order to reduce downtime by having all necessary resources on hand and a strategy to use these resources. The main planned maintenance methods are: auotonomous, shutdown, priodic, and predictive. These different approaches are used at the same time in a company. It is important to understand how they can be managed in an integrate way, and inserted in the whole management of the production system.

The aim of the thesis is to analyse the four types of planned maintenance by estimating the distributions of their occurrences, and then to design a scheduling algorithm to integrate them in a maintenance management system. The final purpose of the system is to guarantee that the resorces remain functional for as long as possible without any unplanned downtime.

Required skills Process representation formalism (UML, IDEF0, ..); Scheduling.
