Description The thesis aims to design and develop a knowledge management system specifically suited for One-of-a-Kind Production (OKP). Based on the Smart Factory paradigm, the system will be able to acquire and manage in real time the process information that reveals the operational difficulties and identify the modifications to the process introduced during the execution of the process in the plant. The complex of this information, appropriately organized and structured, constitutes the base of knowledge - in continuous evolution - that will guide the development of a new product, drastically reducing the subsequent fine-tuning of its process, which are inevitable today because of the empirical rules applied in the field depending on the experience of the employees. The production process of an Italian company will be analyzed with the aim of digitizing the information related to the design and production of some product families. This modeling will form the basis of the integration between PLM (Product Lifecycle management) and MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
