Descrizione One of the main objectives of the Energy Center LAB initiative consists on designing a Multi-Energy-System (MES) Co-Simulation Platform able to qualitatively and quantitatively solve energetic transition scenarios . Nowadays large system-of-systems continually face wide range of cyber threats, which makes it even more important to analyze system's security and mitigation mechanisms by using integrated simulation of communication network and associated cyber threats and mitigation strategies. In a Multi-Energy System, communication network is one of the major and/or critical components. Thus, it is becoming crucial to study the impact of such new smart grid technologies in communication networks.
The co-simulation infrastructure of Energy Center Lab resides on Mosaik, a flexible Smart Grid co-simulation framework that allows combine existing simulation models and simulators to create large-scale Smart Grid scenarios. The aim of the thesis consists on extending Mosaik with large-scale network communication simulators (e.g. Omnet++). The candidate will be required to:
1. study the functionalities and requirements of the two frameworks;
2. design and develop the interaction and integration between those frameworks;
3. develop a test-bed scenario in a smart grid context;
4. evaluate the performances of the overall infrastructure.
