Description Air pollution, in particular due to particulate matter, is considered a critical issue, and it is receiving ever-growing attention from the scientific community. Environmental monitoring is not limited to the outdoor case in crowded cities, but it is also usefully applied to indoor cases such as factories, offices or industrial plants.

This project aims to develop a new architecture for a wireless sensing device for the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 domains.

This device shall be capable to interact with several sensors (e.g. PM10/2.5, temperature, humidity, pressure) and upload the sampled data to a remote server via wireless communication. The gathered data shall be analyzed in order to create models for forecasting pollution concentration.

Several wireless communication protocols shall be compared to perform a Quality of Service assessment:
- Throughput
- Latency
- Fairness
- Power consumption.

Tools: Linux
