Magnetic system for the determination of steel reinforcement in bridges and buildings

Description The safety evaluation of reinforced concrete civil structures and infrastructures requires the knowledge of the typology and quantity of steel reinforcement. The recent tragic news (earthquakes, structural collapses) have developed a new sensitivity to these aspects. However, today no valid instruments exist for the determination of reinforcing steel in structures and the safety evaluations are affected by a large margin of uncertainty. The thesis aims at developing a new system for the determination of reinforcing steel based on their influence on a superposed magnetic field. It will comprehend a numerical simulation part and an experimental verification.
