Experimental and numerical characterization of hydrodynamic dumpers
Thesis in external company
keywords CFD, FLUID DYNAMICS, HYDRODYNAMIC DUMPERS
Reference persons DOMENIC D'AMBROSIO, ROBERTO MARSILIO
Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL AND SIMULATION
Description The thesis will mainly take place by a manufacturing factory in strong expansion with seat in Turin first industrial belt. It will be devoted to studying the behavior of hydrodynamic dumpers. The thesis activity will consist in carrying out experimental tests and in correlating the results with a numerical model that has been developed by the thesis supervisors.
The candidate will ne requested to become familiar with the test machine, to carry out experimental tests on different hydrodynamic dumpers and to use the numerical prediction tool that was developed by the thesis supervisors. In case the candidate will show sufficient skills, he may also be involved in the activities connected with the model improvement and calibration, using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools also.
Requirements: basic knowledge of Matlab and of fluid dynamics; capability and willingness to carry out "manual" activities (the experimental tests); past use and knowledge of CFD codes is a plus.
Starting time: immediately.
Duration: 4/6 months.
Required skills Matlab, fluidodinamica
Notes The thesis is characterized by a significant experimental activity that will take place at the industry premises. Therefore, manual skills and the willingness to work in an industrial framework are required.
