Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL THESIS
Description It is proposed an experimental thesis aimed to the synthesis of catalysts for electrosynthesis of chemicals: Glucaric acid and of Glycolic Acid, from streams containing Glucose and Oxalic Acid, respectively. These processes will be coupled in a paired electrosynthesis reactor that will be tested at a demonstration scale for a H2020 European Project OCEAN "Oxalic Acid from CO2 using electrochemistry at demonstration scale" (https://www.spire2030.eu/ocean).
The activities are related to the analysis of the kinetics of electrochemical reactions, made for the production of high added-value products starting from wastes or subproducts from the industry. Experimental activities will be based on the synthesis and electrochemical test of nanostructured electrocatalysts in a pilot-scale electrochemical reactor.
Duration of the thesis work >= 6 months
Manuscript: To be written in english.
Place of work: Politecnico di Torino and Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT@Polito), Torino
