Description The experimental work consists in the study of composite materials formed by a photo-cured matrix and nanofibrillated cellulose, to be used as electrolyte membranes for ionic transport. The membranes are characterized by a three-phase microstructure: a continuous hydrophobic matrix (photo-cured fluorinated polymer), a filler network of nanocellulose covered by ionic functions, and an interfacial water channels array conducting ions. During this work, the membranes will be prepared and then characterized by swelling tests, mechanical tests, microscope and ionic conductivity measurements.
The work is conducted in collaboration with the University of Lyon (Prof. Fumagalli).
