Thesis type SPERIMENTALE APPLICATA
Description In environmental engineering and geomorphology is important to quantify the transport of windblown sand fluxes to quantify the rate of material migration. The thesis is part of the development work of a new sensor for quantifying the sand flux at a point. This measurement is based on the impact of sand grains on a piezoelectric sensor. The thesis is concerned with the development of signal processing algorithms to correctly count the impacting grains and their kinetic energy. A prototype of the sensor based on a Cypress PSOC chip is already available and will be the hardware platform for the thesis.
