Thesis type SPERIMENTAL AND SIMULATION
Description The thesis aims to develop the business model associated with the mobility of electric trucks carried out with the Battery Swap approach. The study will cover the definition of a reference application scenario and the evaluation of the innovative solutions explored, also considering the performance indicators currently used.
The problem will take into account the number of vehicles involved, the travel times, the operating costs and time restrictions for employees, as well as all other key elements.
In particular, the following analyzes will be performed:
(i) dimensioning and positioning of the battery modules on the vehicle,
(ii) route planning and hub positioning,
(iii) configuration of the battery storage and exchange system,
(iv) choice and sizing of energy sources to be placed at hubs (traditional and renewable).
The thesis will consist in the realization of a discrete event simulation model able to model a generic electric transport network on the national territory and of the related energy supply network. The model will be used to compare:
- different ways of recharging the batteries,
- different configurations of supply hubs.
