Thesis type NUMERICAL AND DESIGN ORIENTED
Description Debris flows are one of the most complex type of landslide. At the same time, their effects are destructive and hard to predict. Hazard management is complicated by the capacity of debris flow to erode and entrain bed material, thus growing in volume and associated hazard. In this thesis, structural countermeasures to counter this mechanism are studied. The student will operate on a numerical case study, and should propose and evaluate multiple mitigation design strategies. This work requires good numerical skills.
