Description Recently, there has been a growing interest in the use of cyber ranges for training specialized personnel and for national and international competitions involving teams of expert hackers. A Cyber Range is defined as an interactive, simulated representation of an organisation’s local network, system, tools, and applications that are connected to a simulated internet level environment. There are different types, from those completely virtual, usually the most used because they allow good flexibility and scalability maintaining relatively low costs. To the so called physical one, modelled on the basis of real infrastructures and built with physical components, this type of cyber range is usually preferred because it offers an experience of use and interaction very close to that you could have with a real system. The middle way between the two approaches explained above is to have a Hybrid Cyber Range, which combines the flexibility of a virtualized system and the realism of a physical system.
The thesis work consists in the development of a hybrid cyber range based on a model of real aqueduct. The candidate is asked to design and develop the components that will make it possible to use the physical model of the aqueduct as a cyber range.
