Descrizione  The present Master Thesis is inserted in the context of a European Project, which focuses on colorectal cancer treatment and on the achievement of an early cure of recurrence, thus having a heavy impact on health and on its financial implications. The project aims at validating a breakthrough technology to fight colorectal cancer by costructing biomimetic nanoparticles, targeted against cancer and validating their use once activated by a stimuli-responsive ultrasound stimulation. The project also proposes the use of 3D spheroid and bioprinted tumor models. .
The Master student will work on the design of a 3D bioprinted tube, which will be filled by colorectal cancer and healthy cells able to simulate in vitro the complexity of the colorectal tumor model. The model will serve to evaluate the efficacy of the therapeutic treatment, thus it should be realized as much realistic as possible. Therefore, studies on extrusion bioprinted process parameters, the size and geometry of the tube, the cell type, number, and inoculation modality, timing for cell growth and proliferation will be studied, with teh candidate Master student inserted in a context of multidisciplnary competences offered in the host lab. This experiemntal thesis wil be carried out in the laboratories of Politecnico di Torino at DISAT department. In case of successful realization of the3D model, further tests about the nanoparticles and ultrasound interactions witht eh 3D model will be performed.
The Master thesis can start immediately, depending on thecandidate available time. it is envisioned a total duration of 9 months, comprising the preliminary literature studies, experimental tests and fianl thesis writing.
