Description In industry, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is the organizational process that enables the managing of the product lengthwise the entire lifecycle: from the hull to the hell. The PLM aims to provide a backbone, supporting people, data, procedures, and business systems related to the product information. Among the several PLM interests there is the analysis and reduction of Manufacturing and Assembly costs, the improvement of product quality and reliability, the minimization of wastes, the maximization of the cooperation among companies within the supply chain, and much more.
The thesis work will be a part of this broad scope and focus on the cost assessment in manufacturing and assembly of industrial metrology equipment.
The candidate will collect and analyze the real data from an industrial case study, and deploy them for their use in the R&D and Product Innovation functions.
The classification and evaluation of manufacturing costs, as well as their implementation in a costing tool to be adopted in the R&D and Product Innovation activities, including the adaptation of existing product features and functional requirements, will be a fundamental step of the work.
