Description The thesis aims at deepening the knowledge about analysis techniques of protection mechanisms for automotive systems cybersecurity through the development of one of the following activities: (1) Penetration testing of automotive systems applied to a powertrain control system. (2) Analysis of the protection mechanisms recommended by the UNECE R155 regulation, provisioning for their application to a control system, and evaluation of the protection level achieved.
The candidate should have good knowledge and skills in communication and security. Knowledge in control systems and model-based software development are also recommended. Taking this thesis, the candidate will have the opportunity to get more skilled in automotive cybersecurity.
The thesis will be developed within the 4S Company, which is a Consulting Company that operates in the automotive field, providing highly qualified support for the functional safety and cybersecurity of electronic control systems. The thesis will be developed by working remotely, with teleconference interactions with the Company Tutor. If possible, some experimental activities will be done in the Labs of Automitive Companies participating in the initiative together with 4S. At the end of a good-quality thesis work, there will be the opportunity to receive a 2000 euro prize from 4S. In case of hiring by 4S, the candidate who has developed a thesis related to R155 will have the opportunity to get a qualification for R155 certification, after having passed the exam at the Certification Authority with which 4S cooperates.
