Description The thesis is developed from a collaboration between this Technical Uniersity and the University of Florence in the study of blast effects and earthquakes on cultural heritage and in particular on marble statues. In the present case, the study develops through an existing explicit code (Dytran MSC) that handles balst problems with an Eulerian-Lagrangian approach. In particular, the thesis focuses on the statue of the Neptune Fountain in Piazza della Signoria in Florence to be analyzed with an explicit dynamic approach by studying the fluid-structure interaction problem. Starting from a grid of solid elements of the statue we will prepare models of increasing complexity from 2D to 3D. Finally, protection solutions will be studied with respect to the highlighted limit states (e.g. overturning, exceeding of marble strenght limits). The thesis will be developed in collaboration with the company producing the software and consistently with the requirements and limitations of the COVID emergency.
