Description Set-up of instrumented indentation testing (non-conventional hardness testing) characterisation platform for the application of the Electrical Contact Resistance (ECR) characterisation method. This method is used to identify the change in structure of the material under test under the application of load and to improve the precision and accuracy of the instrumented indentation testing procedure. The candidate will be required to: i) identify the type of conductive indenter for the available platform, ii) design the electrical connections between the indenter and platform and iii) set up the system for measurement. The task will require interfacing with material suppliers and state-of-the-art testing equipment manufacturers in their respective fields.
