Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL/MODELLING
Description The fused deposition modeling (FDM) is largely available for polymers. Recently, the additive manufacturing of mechanical and biomechanical components with metals is also possible with FDM.
The process requires some steps and includes, after the design for additive, the fabrication of a green part, a thermal treatment, the generation of the brown part and the tooling refinement.
The thesis is addressed to the analysis of process effects and parameters on the final design. Dimensional tolerances and mechanical properties are measured.
The activities are partially hosted by a partner research center in Austria, and partially conducted at Polito.
