Description Turbomachinery rotors are subjected to forced responses that are difficult to predict due to the presence of geometric asymmetries (mistuning) in the blade array which, in a simplistic way, is assumed to be cyclically symmetric. Mistuning can generate a localization of the response amplitude of the blades greater than the one calculated in the presence of cyclic symmetry. For this reason it is important to take mistuning into account in the design phase. Due to the random nature of mistuning, a proper design requires many calculations that are incompatible with the huge degrees of freedom of a finite element model and the time allowed in the design phase. For this reason it is necessary to reduce the finite element model to reduce the calculation time. The aim of this thesis is to develop a reduction technique that produces a reduced order model with one or more parametric geometric quantities so that mistuning can be introduced downstream of the reduction. In this way it is possible to quickly calculate different forced responses as the mistuning pattern varies.
