Description The thesis concerns the study of long-term material-environment interaction with particular regard to the corrosion phenomena in the soil that affect archaeological iron artefacts . The research work concerns the characterisation of a series of Phoenician-Punic iron artefacts in order to identify the degradation mechanisms in the soil. In addition, the identification of corrosion products and the assessment of their stability after being exposed to the atmosphere again will allow the development of tailored methodologies for their long lasting preservation.
