Description The thesis will concern the steels used to make some components of compressors intended for use in refueling stations for vehicles powered by hydrogen gas. The general objective of the thesis will be to evaluate both the possible absorption of hydrogen in the same components, and the influence of hydrogen, both absorbed and environmental, on the mechanical properties of the same steels in service, and also the possible countermeasures, including in particular possible protective coatings. The experimental work will be carried out in collaboration with the company Cubogas s.r.l. ( www.cubogas.com ), belonging to the SNAM group, based in Cherasco (TO). The thesis could be combined with an internship at the same company.
