Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL AND MODELING

Description The thesis activity will involve working along with the Functional Applied Biomechanics Laboratory (FABiL) research group, for the prototype development of a hand-held perturbation device for the human upright position equilibrium analysis. The device aims to provide on the patient’s body a well-defined and repeatable force impulse, for diagnostics and biomechanical analysis purposes. The thesis will focus on the refinement of the actuating/sensorial part of the current system, involving the following points:
• Analysis of the current prototype (see attachment), research on the state of the art, and selection of alternative components. The aim is to increase the dynamic performance, decrease bulkiness, or overall weight;
• Prototype implementation, by testing the various replaced elements, creating a Solidworks model of the system, and 3D printing a proper chassis;
• Comparative analysis with the previous prototype, highlighting the solved issues and the possible problematics which are still present and deserve additional study.
