Description The thesis activity will be carried out at the biometrology laboratory at National Institute of Metrological Research (I.N.Ri.M.).
The candidate will develop a reference system that allows the calibration of thermal cyclers for PCR analysis to be performed ensuring the metrological traceability of temperature measurements. The activity will be jointly led by the head for the involved laboratories.
definition of the functionalities of the reference system;
analysis and metrological characterization of the performance of thermal cyclers for PCR that are now in use at I.N.Ri.M.;
development of the reference system for the temperature calibration of thermal cyclers for PCR, which can also includes commercial devices;
drafting of a technical report;
evaluation of the performance of thermal cyclers after the calibration from a chemical and thermal point of view.
