Empirical evaluation of the mechanical properties of plastic hinges for concentrated plasticity flexural models

Description Concentrated plasticity models involve the definition of a moment-rotation relationship, whose fundamental parameters (such as plastic hinge lengths, ultimate and yield rotations) are often obtainable through empirical expressions. However, the results obtainable from the application of these expressions are often conflicting and scattered. The thesis is part of a study conducted by Politecnico di Torino in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, and involves the analysis of experimental data aimed at the development of a dataset to be used for the determination of empirical formulas through genetic programming algorithms. Comparison is also provided numerical of the formulation developed with those already proposed in the literature or in the regulations.
