Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description The aim of this experimental thesis is to use carbon-based materials deriving from waste biomass (biochar) inside cement-based composites in order to test their performance. The use of waste materials for innovative applications in composite sector is continuously growing in the last years. Cement, being the more used artificial material, represent an important sector where to apply innovation to improve both technology and environmental impact. Cement production requires high quantity of energy, and the use of biochar could allow to considerably reduce its energetic footprint. Indeed, the use of biochar could reduce the quantity of cement necessary in concrete and moreover it represents a CO2 fraction not emitted in the environment but immobilized in a cement-based composite for several dozens of years.
The student will have the possibility to work side by side with qualified researchers who will help him/her to gros in his/her professional path, giving the possibility to work in a project with a real industrial interest behind it.
