Description The PIP-II project at Fermilab is building a superconducting Linac to fuel the next generation of intensity frontier experiments. Capitalizing on advances in superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) technology, five families of superconducting cavities will accelerate H− ions to 800 MeV. The purpose of the Fundamental Power Coupler (FPC) is to transfer RF power to the SRF cavity, and thus to the beam. The FPC is composed by a vacuum side, facing the beamline volume, and an air side for power connections. The vacuum side interfaces with the air side through a ceramic window, which may get damaged during installation, transportation, or operations. Being able to remove the vacuum side of the FPC and substitute the ceramic window in-situ is of paramount importance to save the usability of a cryomodule. Having an automated system capable of replacing the FPC on the CM with minimum human intervention, would minimize the risk of beamline volume contamination, maximize the repeatability of the operation, and maximize the availability of the CM. The first protype CM (pSSR1) was built, installed and tested at Fermilab, and it will serve as a benchmark to design and validate the automated system for FPC in-situ replacement.

Required skills A basic knowledge of using Solidworks and ANSYS software is preferred.

Notes An exam average higher than or equal to 27/30 is a requirement.
