Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description Improving the quality of the research in neuroscience is a fundamental step to find efficient strategies for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s.

The thesis work is based on the design and the development of electronic interfaces to record signals coming from neuronal cell cultures by innovative diamond-based MEAs. After a preliminary phase of study, the applicant will need to find solutions to develop the electronics of the system, aiming to produce PCBs able to level up and improve the current devices. Eventually, the system will be tested on real cell cultures at the neuroscience laboratory. The results will be digitally processed and statistically analysed.

Required skills Basics of analog circuit design, Basics of microcontroller programming, Signal processing
