Description The interdepartmental PhotoNext laboratory carries out research on photonic technologies.
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS), in collaboration with the Department of Control and Computer Engineering (DAUIN), is working on the creation of a system for reading, transmitting, and displaying near real-time temperature and strain coming from a model aircraft, created by the Icarus team of the Politecnico di Torino.
The project is written in C and C++ with the addition of Linux System Calls. It is currently functional, but improvements are to be made to:
- Add the reading of data captured by an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to reconstruct the attitude of the model.
- Optimize the currently existing data capture system.
For the entire duration of the thesis, the student will be followed by Dr. Alessandro Aimasso, Dr. Antonio Marceddu, and by prof. Paolo Maggiore, Matteo Dalla Vedova, and Bartolomeo Montrucchio. At the end of the thesis, the student is expected to improve his programming skills, together with his ability to work on medium-complexity projects.
