Description GUI (Graphical User Interface) testing of mobile and web application is a practice used to verify the appearance and features of mobile applications, and as such a fundamental phase of the software development life cycle. GUI testing is often perceived as a costly, time-consuming and redundant activity, and therefore is considered not engaging by practitioners.

Gamification is a trending methodology which aims at enhancing users' performance and engagement by using game-like mechanics. In recent years many gamified tools have been proposed, each one with some benefits and drawback.

The objective of the present thesis is to analyze novel IDEs that support GUI testing (e.g., IntelliJ Idea Aqua for web application testing, Android Studio for mobile testing) to implement novel Gamification plug-ins and widgets in order to increase the engagement of developers in GUI testing activities of mobile or web applications.
