Description Software applications for the management and the measurement acquisition of the instruments of the “Electronic Instrumentation Laboratory” (Electronics Engineering department)

Stand-alone measurement instruments equipped with communication interfaces, such as sampling oscilloscopes, digital multimeters and spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition cards for Personal Computer are available at the Electronic Instrumentation Laboratory of the Engineering Electronics department of the GIOBERT S.p.A. company. Currently, stand-alone instruments are almost mainly used in manual mode, while data acquisition cards are not yet used to perform measurements and tests.
In collaboration with the laboratory manager, the candidate will draw up the general specifications of a new software application and develop it in the LabView environment, implementing the functions necessary to perform the measurements required as part of the tests carried out by the laboratory. The application has to include the evaluation of the measurement uncertainty and the evaluation of the conformity of the obtained results to defined specifications.
Main activities:
definition of the architecture of the automatic measurement systems starting from the specifications of the tests carried out in the laboratory;
development and functional testing of software applications in the LabView environment;
drafting a technical sheet for each developed application;
validation of the developed software applications.

Required skills Instruments and measurement methods for electrical quantities; sensors; basics of probability and statistics; basics of programming languages.
