Description Audio amplifiers often need to implement signal processing algorithms that are typically performed in a dedicated DSP processor residing outside the Audio amplifier IC. Integrating such DSP processor inside the Audio IC poses challenges in terms of power, area and performance in order not to impact the Audio IC cost structure.
Objectives of the thesis: Starting from a set of typical audio DSP algorithms defined in C, define an optimal programmable RISCV based architecture to implement in the most cost effective way such algorithms, with the goal to integrated the RISCV DSP core in the same silicon die as the Audio amplifier IC.
Activity Description: algorithm study/modeling in Matlab, HDL (Verilog) RISCV core coding and verification, FPGA prototyping.
