keywords COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS, SIMULATION

Reference persons MICHELA MEO, DANIELA RENGA

Research Groups Telecommunication Networks Group

Thesis type RESEARCH THESIS

Description The objective of the thesis is the analysis of new generation of cellular networks that integrate aerial platforms, such as low orbit satellite, airship or balloons, with the final purpose to:
- reduce energy consumption of the networks, by responding to the requests of the smart grid to reduce peak loads
- improve quality of service and network management by reducing peaks
- improve services through caching of popular contents
- improve the resilience of the network with respect to faults of the power distribution network

The case of a constellation of aerial platforms and the presence of mobile aerial nodes (drones) can be considered as well.

The analysis will be developed by simulation.

Notes An average score of the exam of at least 27 is requested.
