Description This thesis is primarily intended for aerospace, civil, or mechanical engineering students with an interest in structural dynamics.
Ground Vibration Testing (GVT) is of paramount importance in the design and certification process of air and space vehicles. Current industry-standard techniques for evaluating modal parameters from frequency domain data have the major drawback of the potential ill-conditioning of the fitting process. The Loewner Framework [1] was recently proposed to overcome this. However, being an interpolation technique suffers from a degradation in computational performance for large datasets. This master thesis aims to identify, apply and validate a process, technique, or enhancement for the computation of the Loewner matrices [2] to relieve their computational performance for large datasets. This work would be carried out on numerical and experimental datasets (already available) of aeronautical, e.g. flexible wings, and civil, e.g. bridges, structures.
