Descrizione Achieving high-fidelity control and readout of qubits involves substantial RF engineering and digital signal processing expertise. For manipulating superconducting qubits, the necessary signals span from DC to over 10 GHz and incorporate complex envelopes. These signals must be capable of rapid frequency shifts while preserving phase coherence and adhering to stringent timing precision. The Quantum Instrumentation Control Kit (QICK), an open-source framework employing the AMD-Xilinx RFSoC, facilitates these functions.

Utilizing the Xilinx System on Chip (SoC), the QICK platform enables the generation of precise control signals for qubit manipulation. The objective of this thesis is to enhance and tailor the FPGA RTL within the QICK platform to suit specific experimental setups. The student will work on the extension and optimization of the current framework. This research activity will be conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (https://coldlab.lnf.infn.it). The system will be tested on actual superconducting qubits.

Conoscenze richieste Hardware RTL design, FPGA design, Python
