Hybrib Powertrain Torque Split for Rally Racing Cars
Reference persons STEFANO CARABELLI
Description Rally racing in the past decades has been characterized by the introduction of integral traction beginning with Audi Quattro and Lancia Delta Integrale in the '80.
Hybrid powertrain combine the combustion engine propulsion with a number of electric motors both on the engine primary shaft and wheel axles.
The bi-directional capability of electric machines, i.e. positive as well negative torque, requires an overall strategy for the torque management of the different sources in response to the driver's requests, called "power split".
The thesis main objective is to define a torque split strategy for optimal dynamics (longitudinal, vertical and pitch) of an 4WD vehicle with an hybrid powertrain.
