Modelling vegetation growth
Reference persons STEFANIA TAMEA
Description Vegetation enters traditional engineering problems in different ways, from the interaction with structures (buildings, green roofs, …) to urban planning, from agriculture to green solutions (e.g., to air and water pollution). Understanding and quantifying the growth of vegetation and crops is thus of interest for many applications. The modeling implies, in general, the accounting of factors such as radiation, water and nutrients, and it is intertwined with the soil water balance and the hydroclimatic forcings. Available models can be studied or new modeling frameworks can be developped, obtaining results that are relevant for different engineering problems.
