Description This thesis aims to uncover the factors enabling entrepreneurs to develop technological transformational projects with the aim to change the business models of their firms. In detail, the thesis will analyse how entrepreneurs integrate new capabilities emerging from new technological paradigms (e.g. digitalization, IoT, additive manufacturing) with the traditional competencies characterizing the industries in which their firms operate. The setting of the study will be on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating in traditional industries of the Piedmont region (e.g. Fashion, OEMs suppliers).
The thesis will be developed following two steps: first, a number of case studies on such firms will be developed; second, the evidences emerging from such cases will be qualitatively analysed to uncover the factors. The development of the thesis requires a proficiency level of Italian.
