Description In order to complete their diagnostic-therapeutic path in the healthcare systems, the patients can pass through multiple productive areas, such as the emergency room, the intensive care unit, the operating room and the hospitalization areas. Modeling and managing effectively the patient flows across these areas is increasingly important in order to improve the efficiency of care processes, in particular by reducing delays in service provision, waiting times, hospital stays and waste of resources.
The aim of the thesis is to define a methodology for modeling and managing patient flows within a healthcare facility, with particular attention to the planning of the use of the operating room.
The thesis will be carried out in collaboration with the Maria Vittoria hospital in Turin.
